Literally 'Alternative News' sources - over time traditional news channels have built captive audiences who trust what they say to be true. However certain channels may be trying to manipulate or encourage a particular thought process in order to promote a preferred agenda. ALT-News aims to strip away agendas by offering an alternative view to that promoted by the mainstream media, which because of its 'trusted brand' can itself fall into the category of being fake news.
