Oh my God I made Asian Daphne from HBO Velma! Ok, obviously my first character was a Qunari mage named only Saarebas but Asian redhead with an asymmetrical haircut? Wow! I just now started watching Velma season 2 (because I ALWAYS get a season 2) and what is the first thing I see? My Veilguard character! Did I not say that earlier? Did I not say that I make Asian looking redheads when I play Dragon Age? I didn't even connect the dots until right now. The hair physics in that game are insane. *Alwayd hide helmet*
Hym "I've been playing Veilguard for the past week or so and I don't really see what the problem is yet. I, at the very least, expected to play Dragon Age 2 with new mechanics and that's what I got. My criticisms are thus: Some of the voice active is discordant with the overall tone of the game. Specifically Bellara. That being said, she's my favorite companion. SO... I don't really care. It has some awkward or clunky climbing mechanics. You go to jump up on something small and you jump to shallow and then it puts you in the 'barely reached the ledge' animation and it's like 'Fuck me! It's 3 feet of the fucking ground!' And it takes forever. OR! Or, you get a weird angle on one of Lucianus' hand constructs and instead of getting the climb animation you get the vault animation and now you're in the river.

I heard someone criticize the difficulty but you can make it harder on yourself by not using revival charges (I'm only playing on underdog atm). It's not a Soul-borne game so how hard do you expect it to be. Another was the companions serve no purpose other than their skills and the passives you gain from their weapons and armor. Which is true. I do miss being able to control my team or even having my main character go down and having to salvage an encounter by defeating an enemy with the surviving characters. It makes it so that you have no relationship with the characters outside of the dialogue. The combat is good though. New defense mechanics or good. You can buffer the charge attacks into your basic combos or after your running/jumping attacks with the warriors. So that's cool I guess. The gauge building perks in the skill tree allowed me to construct my evoker in such a way that I'm able to spam abilities in between using the fully-charged staff combo. Which makes the mage fun to use. Playing mage is usually a chore. Got to level 43 before I started my next character. I enjoy it. Veilguard gets an 8 out of 10. Skill tree is big. Offers a lot of reply value. I would like to see a full 180 back to Dragon Age: Origins-Style gameplay. But that's just me."
