Tragiversary

This term was formed after the tragic death of my good friend Brittany Swinford in 2006.

It is used in replacement of the word anniversary which carries a positive connotation; which the milestone of her death obviously does not carry for me. It has ended up being used every year as her death date approached and is now well known word among my friends.

This year will be the nine year tragiversary of 9/11.

When a trans person who is on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) celebrates their anniversary, similar to an alternative birthday, commemorating the first time they began physical transition processes.

“Celebrating my 4th tranniversary on Sunday, at the drag show will you be coming through?!”
