A 2006 Japanese anime spin-off of the original American Show "The Powerpuff Girls". This anime was drawn by the same artists who worked on the Sailor Moon series. The anime is also produced by Cartoon Network, Toei Animation, and Aniplex even though the creator of the original show (Craig McCracken) did not take any part in this. The anime aired in Japan on July 1, 2006 and has yet to come to the U.S. or any other countries for that matter, but Cartoon Network said that the anime will be aired worldwide. The Ocean Group announced that they will dub the anime into English but they are not sure if it's going to make it to american television, or if the voice actors from the original show will voice act for the anime.

Nope, your eyes aren't deceiving you. There IS an anime version of the Powerpuff Girls. In this anime-style re-imagining of the series, instead of Townsville, Z takes place in Tokyo City. When Professor Utonium and his son accidently create the substance Chemical Z (created when a Rice Cake falls into a vat of Chemical X), his son shoots it as a beam when a giant glacier threatens the city.

Shooting out into different white and black beams of light, it hits three regular girls, Momoko, Miyako, and Kaoru, giving them all superpowers and the ability to transform into the Powerpuff Girls! However, out of the light of Chemical Z, new super-villains are created, such as the mad monkey Mojo Jojo and many other strange foes.

With a new set of problems ahead for Tokyo City, will these new Powerpuff Girls be the cure?
