1. The best and worst extracurricular activity you could possibly join.

2. A Package Deal!!

3. Better than the football team.
1. "Oh my god!" exclaimed Nina, "I had so much fun during marching band the other day!!" "But Nina," Tim said, "You were just complaining about how much you hated it two days ago!"

2. Set includes:

- At least two weeks of band camp

- Director(s) yelling at you to find your dot

- A complicated drill sheet/book

- Sometimes grouchy section leaders

- Unmanageable music

- No life

- Mandatory football games each Friday night

- Friends and memories you will never forget

- A new-found hate for the trumpet section

- MAYBE a trip to somewhere for a competition

3. Last year, the only reason why people came to the football games was to watch the marching band.

An activity that involves the use of brass and wood instruments. They can range from 2-300+ performers and also can range on what they do. Smaller marching bands typically March at football games and district level competitions and March simple formations. Contrary, BOA level marching bands March at football games, district, area, state, and even national competitions if they are good (and maybe rich) enough and March in complex formations that take months to perfect. These BOA marching bands also are also hard workers. While marching band is not a sport, it’s a performing art. Marching band is a performing art and not a sport in the same way a painting is not just a photo. Marching band members are pretty much athletes minus the sport: Imagine doing cardio with varying speeds while holding a 5 to even 35 pound weight and being forced to keep it straight without movement for a minimum of 4 hours a day… some practices might last 8 hours. On top of the physical aspect, marchers also have to be proficient in their instrument. The better the school, the more the marcher has to practice his instrument and compete with people just as good or even better as him.
While Marching Band is not a sport, it’s a performing art that takes athleticism and musicality to be good at.

1. My life
2. A place where you can be yourself, and know that nobody (almost nobody) is going to make fun of you
3. The marching band consists of many social cliques, and gossip and fighting tends to spread around. But that's life
4. Normally comes with a color guard--the color guard is a group of girls, and sometimes a few guys.
5. The color guard is super annoying because they always try to take our boyfriends.
6. The color guard never stays on beat with us, and it really annoys us.
7. Band bus rides home, always consist of making out, cuddling, random singing, occasional dancing, and on special, romantic occasions, fingering. (Yes in the pants)
8. Band is NOT for nerds. Almost all the band members in our band are considerably attractive.

9. The band bus was where I got my first kiss.
10. The band director is a complete ass, but we don't care because being in band is totally worth it.
11. If you aren't in marching band you can never achieve the level of badass that we are.

12. BAND SHOWS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ITSELF
One time we went on a marching band show and nothing felt more wonderful than hearing our highschool name announced over the loud speaker as first place winners. We hugged. We cried with joy. We screamed. We felt perfect. We were all a team of friends in unity. Nothing is better than that feeling.

Usually noticed as a talented and hard-working musical group, Band, to the participants, see it as a cult. In a traditional marching band period, what happens there is pretty much grinding on drill, or the form of the players/actors/color guard, the whole time, with an occasional cup of ice. There the band rules out the weak and puts them as alternates, or, literally, pawns used only in emergencies. Working on the music is more or less vigorous, with the poor drum major trying his/her hardest to direct while band plays. Old ladies screaming at you about tone and support is another plus, along with whoever wants to bang our heads against the wall with rhythm lectures. And who can forget good old MUSIC THEORY! oH gOsH tHe TuBas
Band is pretty much survival of the fittest both musically, mentally and physically, and it all comes together to make a show.
Did you hear the marching band playing music? It was great!

A CULT of emtremely passionate band geeks. Consists of the hottest guys you will ever see and the weirdest kids that get along with everyone. Even though it's the band from the schools biggest rival, we still joke around and eat cookies.
Hey look at that marching band I think it has 233 kids in it.
