Top definition
A broad term describing the lens through which men in a heterosexual-masculine-based society illustrate women and the world. Women are generally sexualized, objectified, and seen as inferior through this lens, and it's argued to be a driving ideology behind sexism in modern society. And, rather than a conscious and vicious mindset, this is mainly subconscious through lifelong subjection to biased media, language, job market, etc, in conjunction with natural desires heterosexual men possess. In women it's often called "internalized" male gaze, which would subtract the part about natural desires.
Friend 1: Yeah she was a great actress in the movie but they didn't dress her right, totally took away from the appeal.
Friend 2: Your male gaze is showing

Referring to women who are sexually or romantically attracted to other women. Applies to both lesbians and bisexual women, as it is only the same-sex attraction that matters, not any other attractions the women may have.

Originates from the Greek poet Sappho, a bisexual woman from the Isle of Lesbos, from which we get the term lesbian.
The sapphic women greatly enjoyed each others company.

"A way of looking at the world through a masculine lens that views women as sexual objects." A word created by feminists which think any man that stares at them wants to rape them or sexually assault them and think that women have never looked at a guy and thought "I would like to fuck him." ever in history. Even though women use men as only sexual objects just as much.
Feminist: You have such a male gaze you filthy pig.
Man: I've been standing in line waiting to order what are you talking about?
Feminist: Are you really mansplaining me right now?
Man: What the fuck is wrong with you?
