Male Gaze

A broad term describing the lens through which men in a heterosexual-masculine-based society illustrate women and the world. Women are generally sexualized, objectified, and seen as inferior through this lens, and it's argued to be a driving ideology behind sexism in modern society. And, rather than a conscious and vicious mindset, this is mainly subconscious through lifelong subjection to biased media, language, job market, etc, in conjunction with natural desires heterosexual men possess. In women it's often called "internalized" male gaze, which would subtract the part about natural desires.

Internalized male gaze

The internalized male gaze is the act of depicting women in f.ex. movies and literature by hetero sexual men. Every woman is influenced by it everyday, because they have this male voyeurism inside their mind. Since the rise of kinks ( everything can be a kink/ many kinks are normalized) and the oversexualization of woman, there’s no space which isn’t influenced by it. Everything a woman does could cater a male viewer, which is in the basic form, what society to this day forces on women. This whole process is for the majority more on a subconscious level.

The line between the free will and the internalized male gaze is fluent and many woman can’t tell the difference anymore between ‘what do I like?’ And ‘what attracts men?’, because it’s been taught to them through movies, through their parents and the media that they should please men.

The way hollywood is showing Megan fox fixing a car in the transformer movie is a prime example of the internalized male gaze, since she can’t even repair a car without being sexualized.

Toe Rag

A toe rag was originally a foot wrapping used, since mediaeval times up until the mid-nineteenth century, to protect the foot from chafing by boots or shoes. As these were, quite literally, rags they weren’t usually washed, and so with use they became very smelly until they were thrown away. Because of the similarity in smell, toe rag also became the name applied to dried, salted cod or other things with a strong, unpleasant, fishy smell. It didn’t take that long before the name was applied to someone who was an obnoxious, unpleasant OIC.

Eternity leave

When some resigns or retires from a job, they are on "eternity leave". This can also refer to someone who has passed away, especially someone who worked somewhere for a long time, retired/resigned, then passed away later.

Oh I'm sorry, you didn't know that Kelly is on eternity leave? She resigned and moved to Hawaii!
