Performing a scientific measurement by sight versus by measuring the volume (volumetric) or by measuring the weight (gravimetric).

The new lab tech just calibrated the GC and the curve is really bad because all the dilutions were done on a lookametric basis.

A scientist, using their best visual skills as the means of performing an action, as opposed to using a balance (gravimetric) or a calibrated vessel (volumetric).

The new lab technician decided to calibrate the GC/MS with a series of solution that were prepared with a lookametric process. Unsurprisingly the R² was less than .7.
