A scientist, using their best visual skills as the means of performing an action, as opposed to using a balance (gravimetric) or a calibrated vessel (volumetric).

The new lab technician decided to calibrate the GC/MS with a series of solution that were prepared with a lookametric process. Unsurprisingly the R² was less than .7.
