Jonpliment

Named after a very friendly sports coach. When someone gives you a compliment that is not intentionally creepy but seems to sound inappropriate or odd. If it is said by the wrong person (i.e. an older male/female in a authoritative position) the results can be horrendous.

In terms of a swimmer/diver

Jonpliment: "Hey, you looked good in the water today."

What they really mean: "You swam well today."

Sounds like: "You looked sexy today."

1) A back handed compliment; 2) when someone you're dating acknowledges your personality over your appearance as the reason they are attracted to you
