When people take advantage of your better nature to exploit you. Usually happens with liberal white women when mothering instincts are redirected towards immigrants and people that will one day harm them.

A condition of empathy that is above hyper-empathy in some regards but not in others. A person with transfinite-empathy is able to feel any emotion, even if there is seemingly no connection between them and someone feeling that emotion. In this regard, it is above hyper-empathy. However, due to it not necessarily implying the ability to be high alert for negative emotions, it is not above it in all aspects. Depending on the cause, it may or may not still imply the ability to be fully connected and in tune with a person's emotions. A transfinite-empathic person does not need external stimuli to feel emotions and can feel emotions that the situation would not usually be able to evoke.

When a writer publishes a book/series and actually interprets the book like a reader while they were proof-reading and ends up empathizing with their own characters. Getting invested in their own story.
Person 1: I just finished proof reading my novel
Person 2: Ooh cool! Found any errors?
Person 1: I was too distracted, I ended up skipping over the errors because I got invested in the plot.
Person 2: But wait, didn’t you write the plot?
Person 1: exactly!!
Person 2: wow, so you got Post-Written Empathy the whole time?
Person 1: YES, WHY AM I INVESTED?? ITS MY OWN STORY

The phenomenon of becoming overwhelmed by empathy, often regarding a personal tragedy, sometimes resulting in sobbing about issues and events that have no direct connection to the person suffering the empathy attack, as if overtaken by the feelings and/or experiences of another person that one has compassion for.
I woke up last night and had an empathy attack when I thought about my friend’s loss, and couldn’t stop crying even though it had nothing to do with me. No one should have to go through what they went through.
