To process evidence for policy debate. Note: "Cutting Cards" is a general term and can include reading articles or books, tagging or citing pieces of evidence, or arraging evidence in a file. Origin: Was originated because people used scissors and paper to physically cut out and tape down evidence back in the day.

We didn't have any answers to that argument so they told me to go cut cards.

In each cribbage hand, each player plays four cards. The players also cut the deck to turn up a fifth card that all players share for the round. This card is known as the "cut card" or the "up card".

cardboard cut 

Whereas a paper cut is a cut resulting from contact with the edge of a piece of paper, a cardboard cut is a cut resulting from contact with the edge of a sheet of cardboard. While usually rare in occurence, they hurt like HELL.
