Culture Syndrome

When a person submerges themselves in a foreign culture, to the point of feeling that is now their own culture.
- "I always felt a connection with India. Now that I have dreadlocks, wear a scarf around my head and have given away all my shoes, I feel complete"...

..."dude, that hippy has Culture Syndrome. What a tool".

Popular Culture Trauma Syndrome

The chronic symptom profile resulting from Popular Culture Trauma, manifesting as a pervasive sense of existential emptiness, performative identity, and relational dysfunction rooted in internalized cultural scripts. Symptoms include: the inability to imagine a life outside marketed narratives of success/beauty; chronic comparison to curated celebrity personas; sexual and relational behaviors modeled on pornographic or cinematic tropes rather than mutual consent; and a deep alienation from authentic desire, as one's wants have been shaped by advertising and narrative conditioning. The "syndrome" is the lived experience of being a character in a story you didn't write, using dialogue written by corporate focus groups.
Example: A person feels their life is meaningless because it doesn't resemble a sitcom friend group or an influencer's feed. They pursue a high-stress career they hate because it's the "villain origin story" trope they admire. Their romantic relationships are dramatic, on-again-off-again re-enactments of toxic TV couples. They feel like they're constantly "acting" but have no sense of a "self" beneath the role. Therapy feels futile because their core reference points for a "good life" are the very cultural products that traumatized them. They are suffering from a culturally-induced personality disorder. Popular Culture Trauma Syndrome.

Pop Culture Syndrom

When a unique, independent individual usually between the ages 12-25 gets rapidly sucked into the empty void of what's popular among the masses. Symptons include, but are not limited to, owning an iPod Nano new generation, listening to Eminiem, Kanye West, Ke$ha, etc., believing autotune to be "talent," having the irresistable urge to shop at Hot Topic, thinking you're an epic fan of a band because you play their Guitar Hero song over and over again, and either being a Justin Bieber fan or a "hater" who says he's gay despite not evening have heard of him.
I recently lost my ex-best friend to Pop Culture Syndrom.

God Shot

A chance happening with profound meaning, an unexpected blessing, a "sign".
Dr. Drew on Celebrity Rehab said "All of a sudden what had been just another Hollywood proposal became for him an unexpected blessing, an opportunity for growth. In drug recovery language, that's called a "God shot."

city chicken

A food native to Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania in which cubes of pork and/or veal are put on a short, wooden skewer, breaded, then baked and/or fried.

I've heard that city chicken originated during the Great Depression, when folks didn't have enough money to buy full cuts of meat, so they assembled meat scraps on a wooden skewer, creating a make-shift drumstick. Hence the name.

endwarfins

The rush of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides triggered specifically by watching the Seven Dwarfs march home singing "Heigh-Ho" — that particular high of pickaxes, whistling while you work, and communal domestic bliss in a cottage built for men half your height.
I only meant to watch the Heigh-Ho scene for the endwarfins, and then it was two hours later and I'd watched the whole movie.

Endwarfins aren't just a Snow White thing — I get the same hit off the Lollipop Guild in Oz.

A slang term used to describe a bald person, typically someone who is completely bald or has a closely shaved head. The term is derived from the infamous, hairless kids’ cartoon character of the same name.
Example 1:
“Did you see that caillou over there? His head is reflecting the sun like a disco ball.”
Example 2:
“I think Dave is finally accepting his hair loss. He just went full caillou and shaved the whole thing off.”
