Corpectomy

Surgical procedure whereby the corpus (body) is removed from below the brainstem.
The remaining head must then be kept alive artifically.

May be used in an emergency situation when time constraints do not permit diagnosis.

It's great to see Joe looking so well now that he's undergone his corpectomy.
