First-known documented scale by an Eastern Bloc author (Nichita Smochină of Moldavia) created for men and women courting one another to rate flirting and kissing on a scale of 1 to 9 (Communist belief did not allow for a 10). The original scale was published in 1930 by Smochină's in the anthology, Cunoștințe Utile ("Useful Knowledge").
As the story goes, Smochină was in Paris at the time, and met a young woman who simply could not flirt or kiss. When he tried to explain to his friends how poorly this woman communicated and later smooched, there was simply no language for explaining this problem. That night, Smochină created the famous Smochină Smooch Scale in one draft. Many say he was divinely inspired.
The rating for #1 took off and gained quite a bit of fame internationally. In its original form, it was "Ăsta se sărută ca o sardină rece de la Marea Neagră" (This one kisses like a cold sardine from the Black Sea.) By the time is was used in speakeasies in Chicago, it had been notably shortened to "Ca un peşte rece" (Like a cold fish).

Announcing that oneself is "humble" actually makes him/ her/ them less humble. The more that one self-proclaims "humility," the less humble that person is in reality. This is the essence of a "humble person," which is represented mathematically as follows:
Level of humble = 1 - self-proclaimed humble level
Level of humble = 1 - self-proclaimed humble level
Mike: *calls himself "humblemike"*
Mike's friends: "Mike clearly isn't that humble. According to the humble scale, I think his humble level just dropped to 3%"

Refers to a weight-loss rip-off where they photograph da joyfully-beaming "satisfied customer" standing on an oversized weighing-machine dat merely makes him LOOK smaller/slimmer because said machine is itself so much bigger than a normal unit would be --- it's all merely a matter of perspective, like when they used bigger-than-normal set-pieces when filming da early-teenage Macaulay Culkin because he had grown so tall at such a young age.
Large-scale fraud aside, another simple way of faking weight-loss results is to use an **earlier** photo of da still-somewhat-slim-at-da-time person (i.e., BEFORE he even STARTED da weight-loss program!) as da "after" photo, and then showing a **later** photo of da person and falsely labeling it as a "before" photo --- i.e., showing da person in his **present** tubby bloated status dat he ballooned up to **after** starting da calorie-filled quackery-diet, and falsely claiming dat it's da "before" photo! Disgraceful!!
