A common phrase is used between parties secretly working together, but they wish not to display their true partnership to the public. The perception of being allied may taint their motto, values, and promises they kept with their peers. To prevent disorder and conflict among their groups, they choose to be label “not allies.”

: one that is associated with another as a helper, unless it gets hard : a person or group that provides assistance and support in an ongoing effort, activity, or struggle - but only when convenient and has limited risk.

A type of Rizz that makes you and your friends look good but no matter how great you do, somehow a friend always scores.
You do all the work and somehow your homie gets the final shot. (not stepping on toes and not wingmanning)

Ally abuse, is when an International Trading Partner continuously threaten, implement and/or intentionally prevaricates on implementing tariffs on a trading partner ally. The abuse is seen when the abuser can give no logical reason for the implementation of punitive measures against an ally where trading, and agreements to trade are in contractual agreement. This 'ally abuse' is perfectly illustrated by the random actions against allies of the United States of America - by the United States of America. Both punitive tariffs outside a formal agreement, and, the 'on again, off again' nature of threats to implement said trading tariffs constitute Ally abuse. In the above example, in 2025, Donald Trump engaged in "Ally abuse" against its formal trading partners, Mexico and Canada.
The United States of America has engaged in "Ally abuse" with its formal trading partners in Canada and Mexico.
