Also used when you don't want to express how much you don't care about something, as to not hurt their feelings. This is also commonly used when your not paying attention to what the person is saying. Or they say something really long, and you don't want to read it. This description, for instance.

Guy 1: Dude, I totally pwned this guy at school today. Hes like, "Man, I could beat you into a bloody pulp" and I'm like "I bet you don't even know what y=mx+b means." Then he punched me. It hurt

Get the lol mug.A slang that used to stand for "Laugh out loud" but now frequently represents slight humor and acknowledgement of what is said. If someone was seriously laughing, instead of lol they would type LMAO or LMFAO! Lol is just another way to bump the conversation.
