1: An (English) word is a bunch of characters/letters joined together to make a "word". Words have meaning and are usually pronounced the way the letters inside are pronounced, divided together to make the word have it's pronunciation.

2: Word is commonly said by friends as an alternative word for "Good job". When someone says "word" to you after you do something, they'll often want to high five or brofist with you.
