graunchy adj. /ˈɡrɔ n.tʃi/

Onomatopoeic. Describing a harsh, gravelly, crunching sound or sensation, especially one that evokes discomfort or friction, like bone grinding against bone or walking on loose gravel.

Often used to describe mechanical or bodily movements that produce an unpleasant grinding noise or feeling.
