I have had the misfortune of listening to the mediocre band "AFI."
The guitar work is ...ok, the vocals I personally would not recommend to anyone suicidal. They are most definitely emo.
If you will read the example section of this post I have some definitions of emo for all of you who dont understand layman.
Davey is a complete flamer! I watched some of that afi dvd that came out and almost gagged.
No, he couldnt be wearing some decent gothic stuff onstage. He had to wear fruity eye shadow, nails painted the same way, and flippin bridal armwarmer things.
Besides not bending Jade over on stage and making him take it in the butt he is a flamer.
I can understand trying to reach the homosexual crowd but come on there has got to be another way.
Jade looks like he had a bad run in with some bleach and tried to comb it out. Hunter and Adam are the only normal ones who still play with the band and are friends with the flame cakes, they dont dress the part or act it.
The lyrics make me want to go play in traffic, the way he screams makes people wonder who is strangling the neighbors cat. I mean if your going to scream like that at least do it well. Most bands I like can scream and not have their voice crack part way. Frankly if your in love with this band then you need a life, because that band blows and blows hard.
So before you get all upset at me know this, I have listened to their music, i have seen some of the dvd, but i refuse to go to a lame concert. Thats why I dislike this band with a burning passion.
If I had to describe this band in one word it would be this.

Used to be one of the greatest bands in the world when they made some sweet ass punk rock music, until they sold out that is. I must say check out all there cd's up to sing the sorrow (which was the beginning of the end for AFI)

one of the best bands ever in the beggining hardcore punk but fell into a decline of emo with the release of sing the sorrow discography include answer that and stay fashionable, very proud of ya, open your eyes and shut your mouth, black sails in the sunset, the art of drowning, and sing the sorrow also with many eps and vinyl the band is davey havok,jade puget hunter burgan and adam carson

A west coast punk band who started their musical carrer kicking major skateboard kid ass with fast paced, relentless, hardcore, simple music. Over the years their sound grew slower, their lyrics more poetic and their guitars drenched in effects. They are also famous for over-using the word "whoa" and for slow motion breakdowns and homosexually toned gothic imagery.
