A mostly political punk-rock band that was formed in oakland california around 1987. They've put out a lare amount of albums usually challenging the current government or their sanity. Their newer music is just about as good as their old music but too many (so called) fans don't even kno what they stand for or that they even have old albums

Get the Green Day mug.An American punk- rock band ( not punk-pop Billie Joe wants to destroy that term) formed in 1989 by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer (at the time) John Kiffmeyer. They released their first album in 1990 to Lookout Records. Then their second Kerplunk in 1992. Since there was such a large demand for Keplunk they switched to a larger company. Then John Kiffmeyer left the band for college. They needed a new drummer so Trè Cool was chose and quickly became one of the family. They released their album Dookie in 1994 which became the definition of 1990s punk. With hits such as When I come Around, Longview, And Basket Case. Then in 2004 American Idiot came out and Green Day's popularity surged. Everyone loved boulevard of broken dreams and obsessed over it. In 2009 they released 21st Century Breakdown. In 2012 they released the trio album Uno, Dos, and Tré. Since then green days taken a break but are said to be releasing an album this year.
