this word was originally developed by me to describe those who chat not in chat rooms, but on forums more often. a chatter visits chat rooms, a forumnator visits forums. ;)

forum spearing

Akin to forum trolling, forum spearing is directed towards a single member of a forum, just as spearing fish targets a single fish. Also simply called "spearing", it usually occurs when a forum member is found to be easily offended, or lacks a sense of humor.

"This forum user is taking every post way too seriously, and the other members have started spearing him relentlessly."

"I love when people take me seriously on this forum. They become prime candidates for forum spearing."

forum farting

The act of correcting someone else in a forum (internet or in real life) in a manner where no one else appreciates the correction other than the person doing correcting. Usually the person doing the correction is also factually incorrect.

I had to sit in on a meeting with the corporate executives today. They pretty much spent the whole time congratulating themselves on a job well done and forum farting on one another about technical details of a the project they understood poorly.

forum crusader

A facebook user, or a user of virtually any other social internet forum, who spends a great amount of time finding random people to correct and criticize on various intellectual issues. Usually well-read and articulate. Almost like a troll, but too snobby and brainy to be completely classified as one.

Is that a troll? No, it's a forum crusader.

forumitis

The swelling of one's ego as a result of constantly disparaging those who ask reasonable questions on forums, often with the assumption others will join in. A result of daddy issues, low self-esteem, having nobody in the real world care for them, and wanting to prove that they know some obscure thing.

"Man, I asked how to do an extremely complex process that isn't explained anywhere else on a forum meant to help people like me, and everybody insulted me!"

"Oh, don't worry, those guys just have forumitis."
