An emo is not what you think em is can be very lovable people and technically there should not be something called emo unless it’s the true term for a emotional hardcore punk rock song style you should bever call someone emo because they could look mean or depressed on the outside but they might be a happy person and you could hurt their feelings. In fact I have been called an emo before by my mother and father along with my brother...... they said I act like one becaus I wear black sometimes ( black sweatshirt with white lettering and black leggings ) it doesn’t help they said that I have pink hair so that doesn’t help ( I dye my hair to express myself) I have something called a depressed face, my face makes me look mad or sad when I make a straight face ( my family didn’t know how much I laugh in school....) I laugh a lot and just because someone has dyed hair and a face like mine and wears black some days doesn’t make them emo and it will hurt if you call someone emo ( trust me I know how it feels ( plus I’m proud to be emo if people use it he correct way- the ‘lovable, happy’ ones plus I wear cute kid pjs and I love rainbows and colors and just little baby’s and animals )
What my parents say: Juliana stop being emo you look like a b*tch
What my brother says: she’s just an emo that listens to k-pop, she will never get a boyfriend, plus she’s so depressed
Real way peopl use it but shouldn’t: omg he/she is so emo!
Correct way; I really like the genre EMO for music it’s my fav
Other correct way: em is are so lovable and happy!
Don’t even call someone emo: ignore your thoughts and be a good person

Get the Emo Nemo mug. Some people may think the word Emo as a phase. They think of it as a bad thing. Emo is short for "Emotional" wich, there are many emotions. Such as Happiness, saddness, anger, etc. You can be emo, in a happy way, Or in a sad way. so if anyone calls you emo, reply with "everyone is". They'll think you're so dumb, they'll shut up.
You're like, really emo.

Get the emo mug.Emo is a complex beast. It came from the late 80s in the form of Rites of Spring, and slowly changed. From there it became Sunny Day Real Estate, Jimmy Eat World, The Get Up Kids, and Cap'n Jazz. But as the remaining ones of these bands slowly changed the style of their music, they were still associated with the term and bands that were like them got the name. Fall Out Boy could be considered emo because of the fact that Pete Wentz admitted something along the lines of if there wasn't The Get Up Kids, there would be no Fall Out Boy. But The Get Up Kids still are not anything like old, decent emo. It's just that genres change, they move on.
But now people who listen to this new MTV emo adopted a fake personality. Make up, crying, pretending to be deep, wallowing in pain and crying because no one accepts them. They're annoying and fake. They are what most people call emo now, and they tainted the good name of Rites of Spring.
