Being mindlessly competitive at everything whether its drinking alchohol, sports, or anything else just to be known as competitive or argumentative, rather than to actually have a point in what you're saying or doing.
He/she was one of the people the moronic lodge liked to have at a party, though there were other people who could almost be clones of these folks that they would also have at some of the parties.
