This symbol is used in the webcomic Homestuck to reference a specific type of romance known as Kismesissitude.
In Homestuck, the trolls, a species of aliens whose society relies on violence, have four separate forms of romance. Kismesissitude, or Pitch romance is described as true, equal hatred towards each other and is one of these forms, it is denoted by the spade symbol that is generally on playing cards. With a pitch romance, there does have to be some sort of respect and attraction in the relationship, even though it is based on hatred, some level of admiration is what fuels it. Your hatred for your kismesis would be based not on pure loathing, but on some type of love with the underlying good traits and romantic hatred of the bad.
