For it to be classified as true Nomsomnia, the subject must have little to no recollection of eating while in this altered state of consciousness. Noming refers to the eating of foods normally eaten as snacks or are on the go. Examples include chips, beef jerky, pickles, goldfish, and nutrition bars. Nomsomnia is common in sleep deprived teenagers forgetting to eat fourth meal or elevensies.
Jimmy's dad saw Johnny get up in the middle of the night just to eat half a bag of beef jerky. When Jimmy's dad confronted Johnny about this the next morning, Johnny had no recollection of it except he dreamed that he was eating jerky at a park with his girlfriend. Jimmy told his dad that he thinks Johnny has Nomsomnia.
