why people like her
- icon in fashion (see "kinderwhore"); stage presence; overall style
- major inspiration for young kids to pick up an instrument and start playing (especially girls)
- created important albums for popular music's evolution which were commercially successful, whether you like them or not.
why people didn't/ don't like her
- old, washed up, drug-addicted rockstar (not uncommon)
- has been in a few major arguments with her and Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain
- most importantly, has been tied up in Kurt's death. from having a pretty shittily-percieved attitude about his death (at least to the media presence), to being completely scrutinised in the public eye, to possibly being involved in a murder case (please see the website cobaincase.com for more info), this has made her quite a controversial public figure.
