An event where the moon completely overlaps the sun. Also known as a "blood moon" for turning bright golden red, if seen during night.

also known as a blood moon because of the moon's deep red color. An extreme lunar eclipse when the moon is completely within the shadow of the earth. Total lunar eclipses occur on an irregular cycle, averaging out to about once per year. Folklore has it that time travelers make contact on the night of the total lunar eclipse.
