Straight edge is a real and life long dedication. people say that they're straight edge when they don't even know what it means. it's no drugs, no alcohol, and no casual sex, true. b ut it's not just that. it's no impurities are to enter your body, period. it means you won't poison your body or mind at all. not jus until your 18, or 21, or married. YOUR WHOLE LIFE. all the "scene" and "emo" wannabe-s claim to be straight edge, but they can't even define it. they just to be cool. they realy need to research. seriously.

They wrote a song called "Straight Edge" (you wouldnt guess). Most people don't know why they were ACTUALLY straight edge. As many people know, the 1980's hardcore was a group of people who just wanted to be different than everyone else. At this time period, all the kids were smoking weed, drinking beer and doing all that shit. These hardcore kids did it to be different. In today's society, most straight edge kids don't know about this and are just straight edge to be cool.

It was invented in Washington DC and was brought up to Boston by a guy named Al Bareal he invented hardline. Straight edge has three simple rules no drinking, no drugs, and no smoking. Hardline is much like straight edge but has more rules than just no drinking, no smoking, and no drugs. No caffine, have to be a vegetarian or vegan, no sex unless it's procreation, no imported chocolate, no porn, no masterbating are some of the other rules. There are two types of straight edge lifestyles the positive an the militant. Boston is known for it's militant type edge, Boston Beatdown. Straight Edge is a lifestyle not a label.
