pesco-vegetarian

A term used to describe the eating patterns of an individual who is not an ovo or lacto vegetarian, but does restrict the intake of certain meats. They do not consume red meat or poultry, but will consume fish or seafood. The term is used to describe a diet, not necessarily a moral decision.

Sally thought eating red meat was unhealthy, so the only meat she will eat is fish; therefore Sally is a Pesco-vegetarian.

A vegetarian that can adapt their dietary views according to nutritional requirments without any guilt or fear of persucution.

An adaptable vegetarian would choose to eat meat at a special occassion such as Christmas time or when iron levels have diplinished.
