Usually because they have nothing else to commit too in their lives. End up wearing glasses as a result of the eye strain from staring at a screen 8hrs/day. They're fat from shitty diet & lack of exercise. Develop insomnia due to staying up late every night.
Hardcore Gamers are also hateful towards minorities, they love to use degrading slurs on chats towards other Gamers when frustrated(f@ggot,nibber,b#tch,). Some Hardcore Gamers have instances of rage where they beat themselves up over a GAME, or throw the controller into the wall & now have to pay for damages. They don't go outside hardly.
Some of them want to pressure you to be like them. Because according to them excessive gaming makes you "smarter". They also act like immature manchildren & have poor grammar in some cases.

Get the Gamer mug.A jug of fermented piss that sits under the desk. At one point, a gamer was either too lazy to go to the bathroom or didn't want to take a break and risk losing. In typical gamer fashion they are a slob and never bothered to get rid of it and so it has sat there brewing until a brave soul comes to dispose of it.
Derek needs to find a different hobby. He spends 12 hours a day playing video games and I found a few gamer beers brewing in his closet.
