Can also be used sarcastically by a third party to express his belief that one of the friends is merely a selfish moocher who just likes to "benefit" from the other person's "benefits" (i.e., regularly-doled-out monetary assistance from the state and/or federal government, such as SSI/Food Stamps, pension, etc.) which he is willing to share with the gold-digger in exchange for intimate companionship.
