fandom slut

Someone who immerses themselves in other people's fandoms to gain recognition, respect, or favours from them.
Being a fandom slut is a sorry state of affairs, it means you have no mind of your own. It also serves to really, really piss people off, because they think they've met someone who likes what they like, whereas as a matter of fact, they're just having their fandoms screwed over.
Person A: "I love Dynasty Warriors! The fighting is so cool!"
Person B: "Really? *spends three hours looking up disturbed Dynasty Warriors fanart just to impress Person A*"
Person A: *some time later* "Hey, watcha lookin' at?"
Person B: "This!" *waves some mentally-scarring Cao Pi X Sima Yi drawings in Person A's face*
Person A: *feels dead inside"

Person B is a fandom slut.

Fandom Snobbery

Fandom Snobbery is the act of acting in a condescending manner to someone inside or outside of your fandom. Usually takes place when fan A knows more than fan B and insults or berates them for not knowing it.

Also occurs between similar fandoms.

E.G: Between Twilight and Anne Rice fans. Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings.
Fandom Snobbery

"I think that Anne Rice's allusions to Homoerotic relationships in Interview with the Vampire is truly mesmerizing and engaging reading."
"I think that Edward's constant rivalry with Jacob has homoerotic overtones."
"Yeah, but you like twilight, and that's shit. So fuck off."

Fandom Stalking

It’s where you engage with fan produced content from a specific fandom without ever engaging in the source material directly. A fandom stalker selectively immerses themselves in aspects of a fandom, often becoming familiar with character dynamics, plot arcs, and themes through the lens of other fans.
“I’ve never watched The Last of Us, but I know everything about Ellie and Joel from reading fanfic and watching edits. I guess I’m fandom stalking.”

Fandom Stalking

The act of engaging deeply with fan-produced content—such as fanfiction, fanart, video edits, commentary, and memes—of a specific fandom without having consumed the original source material. A fandom stalker selectively immerses themselves in the emotional and aesthetic aspects of a fandom, often becoming familiar with character dynamics, plot arcs, and themes through the lens of other fans. This form of participation is marked by a pick-and-choose approach: embracing what resonates while intentionally avoiding aspects of the canon that don’t appeal.
“I’ve never watched The Last of Us, but I know everything about Ellie and Joel from reading fanfic and watching TikTok edits. I guess I’m fandom stalking.”

secondhand fandom syndrome

When your friend (or friend group) is very passionate about a series that you have not read or watched yet, and talk so excitedly about it you recognize and become excited by things related to that series
I’ve never watched that anime but thanks to my pal Mark I know everything about the main character, I think I have secondhand fandom syndrome
