When using a public restroom, the action of squatting over a toilet so your butt does not touch the seat. “Shanghai” referring to the toilets that are used in Shanghai china where the toilet is built into the floor and you squat over it to do your buisness.
I went to use the bathroom but the seat was gross, so I used the Shanghai squat to not touch the seat.
