Otaku is the Nihonjin (Japanese) word for Home. So an Otaku is Someone who prefers to stay at home, feeding their face w/ Poki and chatting, as opposed to going out and getting laid. Charicterized by their chubby (Fat ass) Appearence and untidy greasy hair, and bad hygene. Someone who'd rather get the dvd collection of Case closed, than buy new clothes. (You if you bothered to look this up)

Many emo kids, goths, ravers, furry and anime fans, gays, and pretty much anyone else who is different are targeted fairly often for mockery by Something Awful and Portal Of Evil crowd.
Wouldn't it be funny if the emo kids, goths, ravers, furry and anime fans, gays and anyone else these guys targeted all joined forces and mocked them back?
Nah. That wouldn't be nice. It would be funny, though.

I'm not really into anime, so I guess I don't qualify as an otaku. It's okay to like anime, though. Life wouldn't be as interesting if everyone were the same.

This Japanese word is usually referenced as someone who is obsessed with anime and Manga. Lives anime and manga. Addicted or really loves manga and anime though it can be used as a differently this frequently referenced in (believe it or not) Anime and Manga which is basically the book form of anime. That being said you can't just like anime to declare yourself an otaku let alone be an Otaku. Those who are genuinely otaku will either Question you or will tell you out, so be prepared. If you start to call yourself an otaku, it might seem minor to you, but it can be compelling a word
" Being an otaku can be hard especially when you don't want anyone to know"
"Didn't you hear she's an Otaku"
"Stereo typical are often Otakus are introverted and are in big otaku Associations and are creepy people which is not true in most cases (keyword: Most)"
