Ironically alot are proud of the negative stereotypes. Typically conservative &anti-intellectual. They ❤guns&hunting. They prefer old trucks bc they can fix em themselves. Tend to be very weary of outsiders, terrified of change&social progress. White supremecy& misogyny are common.

These men were doing the most dangerous jobs in the world. They weren't afraid, part of a huge movement& proudly wore a red bandanna around their necks. (red represents Marxist theory of united workers.) unlike early labor movements, they're bravely out in the open. This laid the groundwork of collective bargaining.
That was social progress to be proud of.
