Get the Flopping like a fishmug. This is the opposite of a mic drop. It's when some does or says something in a public forum, thinking it will be a quintessential mic drop moment, but it comes off awkward, reeking of Fremdschämen (secondhand embarrassment), and is just an epic fail. Depending on the person/forum/action, instead of applause or renown, there's backlash or ridicule.
A prime example is the Kanye West / Taylor Swift incident (or many of the things he says or does these days actually.). A recent example is Katy Perry's foray into space which she expected to be a huge triumph but has been a total fiasco.
