Sad is a word when you are upset, disappointed, and sometimes depressed. You may feel down and sadness comes in all types of ways as in grief, loss, etc. There is no limit to sadness and it is expressed in all types of ways. It can also be a word used to describe someone, someplace, or something; as in feeling pity on how trash or bad something is that you or someone else thinks it sad that someone, something, or someplace is like that.
Ex. 1:
"Hey man, you look down, what's up?"
"My dad died a few weeks ago. I'm feeling very sad and I don't feel like talking to anyone right now."
Ex. 2:
"This service is sad. You should get it fixed man, no one should be getting service as bad as this."
Ex. 1 (v2):
"Hey, you look a little upset, is everything okay?"
"No.. I'm sad today, I'm grieving the loss of my pet dog, Tulip."
Ex. 2 (v2):
"My workplace is sad. I don't get paid well."
"Hey man, you look down, what's up?"
"My dad died a few weeks ago. I'm feeling very sad and I don't feel like talking to anyone right now."
Ex. 2:

Get the Sadmug. A phenomena that occurs on a psychoactive substance in which the consumer starts tearing regardless of actual genre of emotion. Sometimes specifically associated with some sort of perceived insight experience. This phrase is often elaborated upon with an additional phrase describing the intensity in terms of sadness. The more sad sounding the additional description, the more intense/pleasant the experience.

Chad: She's in Peru getting sad with some shaman in the jungle.
Latricia: Hey bro, recreational sadness tomorrow?
Todd: Chee, lets get Tom Hanks when he lost Wilson in Castaway sad.

Get the sadmug. It is a feeling, an emotion and something that can make you feel bad about yourself. The only thing i need to say about sadness is that it drives you through to happiness. Sadness can be better than happiness as long as you hide it beneath a smile.
