friendship

Something that is much underrated in our society. Friendship is actually a form of love (here I'm not talking exclusively about erotic love). It's not a lesser form of love than erotic love, only a different form of love. In fact, the ancient Greeks had a word, "phileos", more or less equating to fraternal/brotherly love (friendship). Friendship seems to have no observable biological necessity(unlike parental love, necessary for humans to grow, and erotic love, necessary for humans to reproduce), and not much of a marketable appeal (as opposed to the millions/billions of dollars worth of things sold to people trying to better their marriages or parenting skills), yet without such a form of love as friendship our societies would be unbearably dull and alienated from one another. One can love their friends as well as their "significant other", just not in the same way (the difference here is quality, not necessarily quantity).

Friendships are not monogamous by necessity. Two people in a friendship don't need to exclude other people from their relationship. A friendship can best be thought of as two people side by side looking forward toward a common goal. It's an odd form of love in which people develop a relationship without relationship as a goal. Scientific achievements have come out of tight-knit friendships (Watson and Crick), as have works of literary genius (J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis), as well as victories in wars (due to the tight camaraderie and mutual trust of soldiers).

friend zone passport

The only successful way to get out of the friend zone. This passport is an invitation extended by a female to a male friend she's attracted to letting him know it's okay to cross the "line" (of friendship). She will somehow set the guy up to make the "first move" usually by heavy and often obvious flirting she may downplay if caught in public. Seldom will she be straightforward about her feelings but will drop enough clues for a guy to trip over. This passport is normally available for a limited time only. The longer the friendship lasts, the less likely a friend zone passport will be granted. Note that these passports must be granted, not applied for. If a guy puts in an "application" for a friend zone passport it's almost always denied and leads to a deportation to the estranged zone- a place worse than the friend zone, worse than being a complete stranger.

When are you going to finally ask Monica out?

Who knows? I'm still waiting for her to give me a friend zone passport. I'm such a "nice guy" and "good friend" and you know how that goes.

Friends with benefit

Combination of friendship and sex. Love/romance has nothing to do with this term.

Woman: So I'm really good friends with this one guy and because he's my study buddy. He would come to my house often, and nothing else can describe our friendship besides having sex. No I'm not in love with him nor do I have a crush on him. That's how we both are "friends with benefit"

Good Friends

A good friend is someone who is willing to forgive all that was said in the past, but remember all the good memories and move forward. I good friend is there to listen to you and backs you up 24/7. A good friend makes you feel better, and is there to laugh and cry with you when your in need. A good friend loves you, and would not hurt you, and if they did, would apologize, and become as good as friends again as before. That is a good friend.
