Nah not me mate

Something the cool kids seem to say in response to an insult or potential threat. Generally a technique to make peers laugh whilst dodging the insult at hand and avoiding having to think of a come back.

For example: Bob: “why are you so annoying?” Troy: “nah not me mate”

This word has no translation into english, it's meaning being derived from the context of the situation it is used in, the length of time it is said, and the inflection in the users voice. It has meanings as diverse as "the guy you get pissed with on a saturday night" to "the guy you get pissed off at on a monday morning."

"'Sgoin on maaate?" "You dinged me car's what's goin on, mate..." "Aw maate... It was only a bit of paint taken off. Don't be so bloody pissy."
