Cyberpunk Thoreauvianism

A fusion of cyberpunk’s gritty, high‑tech, low‑life aesthetic with Thoreau’s call for simplicity, self‑reliance, and non‑cooperation with unjust systems. Cyberpunk Thoreauvianism rejects both the corporate dystopia of cyberpunk and the naive tech‑utopianism of some futurists. Instead, it advocates for “small tech” hacking, off‑grid data havens, encrypted communes, and the use of digital tools to evade surveillance while living simply. It is a genre of resistance for the hacker who also tends a garden.
Example: “He lived in a refurbished shipping container powered by solar and a stolen Starlink dish, coding privacy tools by day and reading Emerson by night—cyberpunk Thoreauvianism, making a minimalist life inside the machine.”

Cyberjunkers

People who use every single chance they get to trash on the not-so-hit 2020 game Cyberpunk 2077, even for the pettiest reasons.
Person 1: Hey, did you know GTA 3 was the first game I ever played?
Person 2 (one of the many Cyberjunkers): Oh, really? It's not the best game, but at least it's better than Cyberjunk 2077 BC.
