Of course, this group was founded in 1977, when Republicans were openly discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community. This prompted commentators to begin comparing the group to the term "Uncle Tom," someone who thinks of slave masters as benevolent dictators, and just treating them nicely will persuade them to end their genocidal slavery practices. Hence, an "Uncle Tom's Cabin Republican."
