the verbal martial art of first opening someone up with a complement and then slapping them down. This figuratively represents the kinetically charged to and fro motion of an archery bow string . the technique is usually reserved for dinging narcissists and assholes.

John:"Sarah you sure are good at making love..."
Sarah:"I know."
John:" ... to the person you respect the most-yourself."
Sarah:"Don't you dare bowsnap me!"
