welfare couch 

An utterly dilapidated couch, commonly found in punk houses, bachelor pads and dorm rooms.
So called because of the tendency for spare change to fall from the pockets of visitors into its vile depths, to be fished out later and used to purchase beer and/ or smokes.

"Larry's welfare couch was so destroyed I had to ask for help when I wanted to get up."
