An enormous bandwagon that people are jumping aboard left and right. When six homosexual men decided to give in to their tormentors and commit suicide, it caught fire and doesn't show any sign of stopping for at least 18 months.

#1: Man, did you hear about those homosexuals that were bullied and killed themselves?

#2: Yeah, man. It's a damn shame, isn't it?

#1: Have you seen all those videos about "It gets better", I think it's a bit too much.

#2: So do I, but for right now, it's okay. In a month, I'll start getting pissed off.

WRPG fan: "Hey, how the fuck do you even enjoy FF13? I tried playing it for a good while and it's still mediocre at best."
JRPG fan: "Don't worry bro, it gets better later after maybe 50 hours, you'll seeeee!"

it gets bettering

Explaining to someone (usually a member of the LGBTQ+ community who is at the beginning of their "coming out" journey) that "it gets better." This could be perceived as patronizing, particularly when offered by someone who doesn't seem to have their life together, but it is well-intentioned.

A reference to the It Gets Better Project storytelling campaign which has helped thousands of LGBTQ+ young people. Used in the HBO Max show, "The Sex Lives of College Girls"

"I'm just calling to check in on you. I could tell you're in a really bad place and I just wanted to say that it gets better."

"Oh my god, are you "it gets bettering" me? Yeah, no, I'm fine. You drive a Ford Windstar. You get better."
