Smithery

the action of an individual, deliberately causing (often significant) discomfort or upset to someone (known to him or otherwise), most likely resulting in him making an unjust gain at the expense of someone else.

INFORMAL – unashamed swindling or mugging off.

That guy lying on the couch over there has had an empty glass for ages. As soon as I went to get a fresh beer he said "hey mate, are you going to the fridge?" pointing at his glass. It was a classic smithery.
