when a female begins to desire to have a child, or when a female develops motherly instincts, etc.

My friend won't stop talking about how sweet and cute babies are and how she wants to have one now - her biological clock totally went off!!

My friend says she doesn't want children...I guess her biological clock hasn't gone off yet.
