to make someone feel bad for you to induce them to do something.

"but mom it's time for me to grow up! i should be allowed to stay out after midnight!"

"but honey, you're so precious to me! i couldn't deal if something happened to you! i'd die!"

"-grumble- fine mom i'll be back at 11. i can't believe you would guilt jerk me like this!"
