A misspelling or mispronuciation of a word in which two letters are switched. The well-established term Spoonerism refers to the switching of letters or sounds within a phrase. Snooperism refers to the same phenomenon occurring specifically inside a single word. The word Snooperism is itself a Snooperism if one means to say Spoonerism.
A: "Three cheers for our queer old dean!" Ha! Didn't you mean to say "dear old queen?" There's a word for such a fumble, isn't there? A Snooperism, right?
B: So what if I uttered a Spoonerism? You fool, you've just committed a Snooperism!
