Syrym
Syrym is a Kazakh batyr, organizer and leader of the anti-colonial, people's liberation struggle of the Kazakhs in the first half of the XIX century. In 1783, an uprising of Sharua peasants broke out in the Younger Juz under the leadership of the foreman of the Baibakty family, Syrym Datula. Nine years earlier, S. Datuly led a Kazakh detachment that fought on the side of Yemelyan Pugachev in the peasant war of 1773-1775.
